The problem
The competitor is not another app. It is a phone call: free, familiar, no data needed, with a human on the other end. Afiya beats it on the four things a call cannot do: show availability, show the price, produce written proof, and remember to remind you.
Not a directory
A directory is a list of phone numbers with better typography. Afiya is the layer where the healthcare transaction is recorded: a real slot held atomically so two patients cannot win the same time, a transparent price, payment through Bankak or cash at reception, a confirmation in writing and a reminder before the visit.
Four surfaces
A patient app and a doctor app on iOS and Android, a clinic console for reception and management, and an admin console for verification, payments, refunds and disputes. Everything is Arabic first with English alongside, and the console is built for the front desk: today's appointments, the waiting queue, doctors' schedules, payments to verify and the month's revenue.
How it was built
A monorepo with a typed API, an appointment engine with hold expiries and overlap protection, a payment architecture for local rails, and an audit trail behind every action. Two hundred tests run against a real database, and one demo command walks the whole loop from doctor sign-up to settlement.
